I’ve lived in Hong Kong for about 10 years, and a lot of that time was spent in smokey arcades, trying to get in when most were “16 and over” and we were 13 just wanting a taste of Street Fighter (the first one, with just Ryu and Ken).

  • I remember those days... you're also not allowed to go into the arcade if you're wearing school uniform!! To this date, I still haven't been to one. =( I would make it a point to go to one next time I'm in HK, but I'd feel too out of place.
  • mike, i've been thinking about this as a business for years but i just don't see it as a big thing. i guess if it expands into multiple branches (which it really needs to have any networking fun). imagine playing against a league in toronto ...

    C: i make a point to check out arcades every time i'm back because the machines there are always a year or two ahead and it's interesting to see what fad they have. i recommend doing so. most arcades are quite big now and there are plenty that are under16 to now. i actually used to have a button-on badge so i could take it off and take off my tie and go in after school =p
  • Oh my. I take pleasure in the simple games: when S and I need to kill some time, we get a couple of 50-cent tokens and share games - one person pilots the plane, the other mans the weapons. Double the fun.
    Of course, this is coming from someone who plays Street Fighter by the RKP technique - "random key pressing".
